PhD student position (BATIIA/2 for 3 years)
We are looking for a PhD student to work on the functional analysis of the DNA/RNA methyltransferase Dnmt2 in Dictyostelium. The project is part of a DFG funded research consortium (FOR 1082) that closely cooperates to elucidate biological functions and the biochemistry of this enigmatic enzyme. The consortium works on mammalian cell lines and the model organisms Drosophila, S. pombe, Dictyostelium, Acantamoeba and mouse. Successful applicants will have access to state-of-the-art methods and materials from the participating groups. Association with the local graduate college “Proteomics” is encouraged.
Applicants should have a good diploma or MSc degree in biology, biochemistry or related fields and a solid background in at least one of the following: experience with Dictyostelium, chromatin analysis, RNA biochemistry, protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interaction, fluorescence microscopy or related techniques.
Applications including CV, a brief summary of research experience and research interests and names / address of two references should be send (preferably in electronic form) to
