I am student of biology and politics 7th semester and as you know from above member of the German IGN-team.

An important part of our integral project is the improvement of teaching in secondary schools and universities in the field of biology. My fellow student Susanne Junk and I concentrate on this part of the project. In cooperation with schools and universities, we want to build up an infrastructure, so that the pupils can conduct ambitious biomolecular work, for example a genetic finger print in school. In the same way, the necessary equipment can be used for improving lab courses in the undergraduate curriculum at the universities. We are sure that we can motivate more pupils to start studies in Biology with these measures.

But first of all we have to persuade the responsible persons at universities and schools of our concept. On our visit in March 2009 we will talk to them about the possibilities and the effects of our project. Besides, pilot courses at two schools in collaboration with advanced students and staff from the respective universities are planned.

We are also very interested in arranging meetings with staff of different administrations. Dr. H. Sugiarto, head of the Secondary Education Division of the Ministry of Citizen Prosperity, will talk to us about further details and the chances of our project in March 2009.

Dec. 4th, 2008
The IGN-team is very happy that Dr. Kusmayanto Kadiman, State Minister for Research and Technology will meet us in March 2009. We will talk about an active participation of RISTEK in our project.
